Miniature & Small ball bearings - Bearing Types

Minebea's major ball bearing product is the single row radial deep groove ball bearing. Besides the open types radial deep groove ball bearings, bearings with shields or seals are available to provide protection from contamination and grease leakage. Flange type and snap ring type bearings are available for improved housing fits. NMB also produces ultra thin type radial ball bearings, thrust ball bearings, and direct bearings. In a direct bearing, the shaft and housing have grooves for balls to run, working as the inner ring raceway and outer ring raceway, respectively.

Radial deep groove ball bearings (R-, L-, RI-)

Characteristics :
This is the most common type of radial ball bearing. This type bears both radial and axial loads.

Types :
Open, shield, and seal types
Metric and inch series

Flanged radial deep groove ball bearings (RF-, LF-, RIF-)

Characteristics :
This is a radial ball bearing with a flange featured on one side of the outer ring surface. With a flange, it is easier to identify the axis direction for housing assembly.

Types :
Open, shield, and seal types
Metric and inch series
* Stainless steel is the standard material.

Radial deep groove ball bearings with a snap ring on the outer ring (RNR-, LNR-)

Characteristics :
This is a radial ball bearing with an external retaining ring featured on one side of the outer ring surface. The ring makes identifying the axis direction easier for housing assembly.

Types :
Open and shield types
* High carbon chromium steel is the standard material.

Ultra thin radial ball bearings (A-)

Characteristics :
The bore relative to outer diameter is bigger than those of common radial ball bearings.

Types :
Open and shield types
* Stainless steel is the standard material.

Thrust ball bearings (T-)

Characteristics :
A thrust ball bearing bears axial loads, but not radial loads.

Types :
With or without raceway grooves
* Stainless steel is the standard material.

Direct bearings (ZB-)

Characteristics :
A raceway groove is featured on the surface of a shaft, working as the inner ring raceway.
It is easier to assemble because its runout precision is high, and the shaft and inner ring are a unit.

Types :
No standard type exists. They are produced based on the requested specification. The housing also could be assembled.
